Lim Kay Siu Has Been Cast For Avatar: The Last Airbender

Lim Kay Siu, the veteran TV and theatre actor from Singapore, has been cast by Netflix for its new live-action series “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. Lim will be reprising the role of Gyatso, the caring and kind Air Nomad monk who also plays the role of mentor, guardian, and father figure to Avatar Aang. Lest it remains unsaid, it needs to be mentioned that this isn’t Lim’s first venture into international arts productions.

Fans of the star would definitely remember him alongside Jodie Foster and Chow Yun-Fat in the Anna and The King, released in 1991, where he played the role of Prince Chowfa, the brother of King Mongkut. In Night Watch, a television spy movie, he played the role of a North Korean villain alongside Pierce Brosnan.

Lim Kay Siu Will Play The Role Of Gyatso 

Lim Kay Siu will be joined with Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, the star of Kim’s Convenience, who will play Uncle Iroh, a fan favorite. Iroh serves as the wise, nurturing mention to Prince Zuko, his hot-headed nephew. The Netflix TV series will also be joined with Ken Leung of Industry, who will play the role of Commander Zhao, the ambitious and scheming Fire Nation military officer that years to leverage an encounter with Prince Zuko to further his own goals. 

The trio of Lim Kay Siu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, and Ken Leung will join the previously announced cast of Cormier as Avatar Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Daniel Dae Kim as the Fire Lord Ozai. Netflix went on to announce on the 16th of November that the production for the series had officially gone underway. The service would find a partner in Pixomondo- that would design and operate the custom-built facility where the shooting will take place. 

Lim Kay Siu would serve as one of the founding members of the live-action series, which found a massive audience in the animated series.
