Brooklyn Nets Go Down In A Massive Blowout To The Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics

The Nets faced their 2nd-worst defeat in the franchise’s history when they went down to the Boston Celtics 136-86. This comes after an encouraging performance in their first back-to-back versus the Celtics.

It was an embarrassing performance from the Brooklyn team as they delivered their worst game for decades. Only Mikal Bridges among the starters reached double figures for the vanquished team.

Trendon Watford was the top scorer for the Nets, scoring 15 points. However, his points came when the final result was a foregone conclusion. Boston Celtics dominated from the start and the team was spearheaded by Derrick White with 27 points while Payton Pritchard top scored with 28 points.

Nets head coach lamented that the entire concentration and focus was not on the game and keeping possession of the ball. He said that the players were not fully locked in and engaged from start to finish. And the team paid just for that against the Boston Celtics.

Loss to Boston Celtics Should Be A Motivating Factor For The Nets: Vaughn

The Nets rest for 8 days after this disconcerting loss to the Boston Celtics. For the victors too it was a startling result as the Nets proved that they were a match for the Celtics in the latter half of the first game.

But it was an about-turn in the latter half of the next game. The abysmal run gave a 22 to 0 lead for the Boston Celtics. By half-time, the Boston Celtics were up 68-32 and the Nets were in no position to recover after that glaring chasm.

Vaughn said that the players will get a chance to rest after this disastrous game. They will hopefully get their minds and bodies in shape and come back stronger after the prolonged break.

Despite their loss to the Boston Celtics, the Nets still are in with a robust chance for the Play-In games. They should use this result as a reason for turning around their performance.
