Trump Moves to Replace Watchdog Who Identified Critical Medical Shortages

Sources from the Capitol Hill report that a senior member of the Department of Health and Human Services is going to be replaced by the President. Sources claim that the official angered Trump after speaking out against the shortage of supplies in coronavirus tests.

The Trump administration recently announced its intention of replacing Christi A. Grimm, deputy inspector general at the Department of Health and Human Services, who reportedly displeased Trump last month.

The news does not come as a surprise as the President is known to take action against any watchdog figures in the Capitol Hill.

Trump Fires “Watchdog” in a “Purge”

Although the President is responsible for an Inspector general’s transfer and appointment, the inspectors general are supposed to be a neutral figure overseeing the transparency of an administration and reporting on any fraudulent and corrupt activities.

In just the last few weeks, the president has fired a top official who was involved in his impeachment proceedings and blocked another inspector general from taking the pandemic oversight chairman’s position.

With all the firing and transfers in the air, even while the pandemic rages on, some have started calling the firings a “purge” by the President.

Donald Trump has come under severe fire after the outbreak of COVID-19. Many claimed that he has not handled the outbreak well. With over 1.3 Million confirmed cases and over 65,600 deaths, the U.S is one of the worst-hit countries in the world.

The U.S Department is Health and Human Services had released a report on the novel coronavirus outbreak last month. The report included interviews with medical personnel across the United States. The report stated a critical shortage of protective gear and coronavirus test kits.

They also emphasized the need for more testing if the country wanted to flatten the curve.

When asked about the report, the President claimed that it was “wrong”.
