Melania Trump announces plans to renovate White House Rose Garden

Melania Trump, First Lady of The has announced her plans to renovate the iconic Rose Garden of the White House next to the West Wing and Oval Office- that has been primarily used to deliver Presidential addresses and host foreign leaders.

The main objective of the renovation is to have it look similar to Rachel Lambert Mellonthe’s original 1962 design with new plants and flowers, improved drainage, and access to people with disabilities. It will also support television appearances in the future.

In a statement released on Monday, she talks about “Preserving the history and beauty of the White House and its grounds is a testament to our nation’s commitment to the care of this landscape and our dedication to American ideals, safeguarding them for our children and their children for generations to come.”

The plan that has been given the green signal by the Preservation Committee will be funded by private donors and will receive support from the National Park Service.

Traditionally the Rose Garden is used by the presidents as a place to host foreign leaders. They have also delivered the annual Thanksgiving turkey pardons in this garden as well as some of the major presidential addresses.
