President Donald Trump yesterday threatened to lower US funding to the World Health Organisation (WHO), accusing it of bias in the direction of China, the place the authorities lifted a two-and-a-half-month journey ban on Wuhan, town that spawned the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.

Trump mentioned the WHO was “very China-centric” in its method, suggesting the UN company had gone together with Beijing’s efforts months in the past to minimise the severity of the outbreak.
“The WHO really blew it,” Trump mentioned in a Twitter.
Trump declared he would lower US funding for the organisation, earlier than backtracking and saying he would “strongly consider” such a transfer.
After President Trump threatened to lower US funding over its dealing with of the coronavirus disaster, WHO hit again at Trump.
Today Dr Hans Kluge, the WHO’s regional director for Europe, defended the organisation.
He mentioned: “We are now in an acute phase of the pandemic – now is not the time to cut back on funding.”
