On Wednesday, news broke out that Gersson Rosasm the basketball operations president at the Minnesota Timberwolves was fired. The move came as the Alex Rodriguez-led new ownership has begun taking charge. However, it has apparently displeased one of their most valuable players.

Gersson Rosas Was A Favorite Of Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns, the superstar center of the Timberwolves could only reply “wtf…” to the announcement of Gersson Rosas’ sacking.

The dismissal was very much out of the blue to the team. Ramona Shelburne, the NBA Insider for ESPN, said that on the day of the news, Gersson Rosas was talking with his team inside the gym in Minnesota. He had been speaking about culture building and player development. Shelburne further said that Minnesota has already begun contacting other people in the front office in the backdrop as they search for Gerrson Rosas’ replacement for the spot.

Sachin Gupta, the basketball operation executive VP at the Timberwolves, will be given a promotion and made the interim basketball operations head of the franchise. This has been claimed by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Gupta is set to be the first-ever Indian-origin person to be heading an organization in basketball.

In 2019 May, Gersson Rosas was hired by Minnesota. He was a former executive for the Rockets. Glen Taylor, the owner of the team, in the announcement regarding Rosas’ departure, said that Minnesota will continue to be committed to building a team that will win and is a source of pride.

However, Shelburne said that those who were connected with the new ownership of Minnesota knew that this was coming for a while. Near the end of July, Rodriguez, the former slugger of the Yankees, and Marc Lore, his business partner received the NBA’s approval to be limited partners of the Minnesota Lynx (WNBA) and Timberwolves.
