Andy Murray’s second-round match against Oscar Otte turned into another epic battle as the Scot dug deep and came up with another epic 5-set win, setting up for a third-round date with Canadian Denis Shapovalov who received a walkover to advance.

Andy Murray was in fine fettle for the challenge as the former No.1 won the opening set. But it appears that his first-round match had taken its toll as he lost the next two and seemed headed for an early exit.

But he roared back in the fourth despite an awkward fall and displayed all his fighting power under a closed roof. He finally prevailed 6-3 4-6 4-6 6-4 6-2.

Earlier in the first round, Andy Murray retained his record of never losing a first-round match at Wimbledon. The former world No.1’s spotless record remained unbroken when he beat Nikoloz Basilashvili, seeded 24th. He had to again go deep into his reserves to prevail over the Georgian.

Andy Murray Was Up Against A Tough German Opponent

Oscar Otte, a debutante at Wimbledon was playing for the third consecutive day. He had earlier prevailed against RInderknech to win the 2nd deciding tiebreaker ever in All England Club history.

Otte was also two sets up against Alexander Zverev in the French Open before going down in a five-setter. His unorthodox style of serving was proving difficult for Andy Murray to handle.

Andy Murray returns after going off injured four years ago in the quarterfinals losing to Sam Querrey. He had been facing fitness issues going into Wimbledon. But his thrilling win in two tough games has raised expectations among fans as the 2-time champion roared back winning 10 of the last 14 games with the game tied 2-2 in the fourth set. It took 3 hours and 51 minutes for Andy Murray to defeat the German.

A phenomenal win from someone who at 34 has 2 hip surgeries behind him. He is hopeful of his next game on Friday.
