Manchester United did not have a splendid game this Sunday. It was a tiring affair for the red devils at Southampton. United played their second game of the current season last Sunday. The game took place against Southampton. After the thumping victory in their opening encounter, the fans expected another win. United crushed Leeds Utd in their opening fixture. However, Southampton seemed to be a tough pill to swallow. Southampton very well knew that they will have an uphill task. Playing against a formidable side like United will always require skill. They did come out with great grit and determination to hold the giants to a stalemate.

Manchester United & Southampton Held At 1-1

The match started in a promising way for United. They had the chunk of the ball possession and threatened to score at any moment. However, as the match progressed, the home team got a good grasp of the game. The home team seemed to enjoy the game as the match went on. Frustration crept in the Man Utd team. They began looking off-color and were falling short professionally.

Southampton had the first blood drawn. Adams took a shot at the goal which unfortunately deflected off Fred. The ball, much to the dismay of David DeGea, trickled into the goal. This was the moment that seemed to have caught the nerves of United. Manchester United looked lost from then on. Their coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær agreed with the fact as well. Fouls and miss passes followed for the Red Devils.

The coach of Manchester United tried to change things by bringing in the substitutes. He brought in Jadon Sancho in place of Martial. This was not sufficient enough to see off a resilient Southampton side. The likes of Harry Maguire, Paul Pogba also had a sloppy outing. Pogba was booked at the dying seconds of the match for a reckless challenge. Mason Greenwood scored the equalizer to save Manchester United from the blushes.
