The New York Yankees have been looking forward to finalizing a deal that would see them acquiring Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers. This was reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan on Wednesday night. The deal is on the way and is simply pending a medical review and the team hopes that it would be made official on Thursday.

Joey Gallo To The New York Yankees- All But Confirmed

In turn, the Texas Rangers will be receiving Glenn Otto, the right-hander, Ezequiel Duran, the second baseman, Josh Smith, the shortstop, and Trevor Hauver, the outfielder, from the Yankees in exchange for Joey Gallo. Texas will also be sending Joely Rodriguez, pitcher, to New York to complete the set. Due to speculations of trade in the works, Gallo was scratched from the lineup of the Texas Rangers ahead of Wednesday night’s game against Arizona Diamondbacks.

Interestingly, the rumor was proven correct as the Yankees swooped in and acquired the fiercest left-handed bat on the trade market who would be suitably complementing the skills of Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge. As it stands, despite the slugging power of the Yankees, they have struggled heavily this season.

In such a situation, Joey Gallo could be of help. The prized player of the Rangers did spend all seven of his major league season with the club, but the team seems to be unloading its roster to acquire new bucks. The 27-year old has already been a two-time All-Star, where he ranked sixth in the AL this season with 25 home runs- which is accompanied impressively with 55 RBIs, and an average of .223.

Nevertheless, the star player has struggled quite heavily at the plate since the All-Star break- with no home run and an average of .067 in 10 games- not something that does justice to the player.

Joey Gallo, according to records, is among eight rostered major leaguers who have hit 40-home runs twice in their careers- 2017, and 2018. He has also been impressive in the outfield- winning a Gold Glove last year.
